Permacultured
deer crossing's first official "farmer-in-residence" Sara Dent completed her two week residency on Thursday May 7th with an engaging and inspiring three hour 'permacultour" of the art farm. After a year's study at Linnaea Farm School on Cortez Island as well as years of experience working with various arts organizations, Sara brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and ideas to the project. Saddled with the task of blending deer crossing's mandate (provide and sustain an accessible rural space for artists of all disciplines to create, perform and display innovative work) with ecologically and economically sustainable farming practices in a matter of weeks, Sara presented us with a sound, well thought-out (and doable!) design plan to begin this process. Much thanks and gratitude to Sara for all her work, energy and guidance helping us steer deer crossing in the right direction!
