The art farm is a growing movement of people who believe creativity grounded by nature leads to powerful change in their lives and communities.

Grounded by nature is a far-reaching phrase. What do we mean by it?  Simply put: we let nature lead the way.  We call ourselves artfarmers because a farm, in the ideal sense of the word, is run by humans but governed by nature.  In other words, a skilled farmer not only interprets and responds to what they’re cultivating but also the entire natural system around them.  Nature-based innovators, like farmers, are people who have spent their lives cultivating this ability.  If art shows us how to transform our creative impulses into physical form, nature is the physical form.  We’re on the path to creating change and nature is the ultimate guide.
     
On any given project, nature-based innovators bring passion, skills, ideas and an understanding of nature to the table that many of us don’t have. Projects include nature-based workshops, installations, events and forums where their work leads the way.  But they also include arts-based festivals, for example, or change-driven community events. The art farm is interested in bringing people together from across conventional divides.  In other words, we want nature-based innovators to play a role in our arts-based festivals and change-driven community events.  And we want artists and people who are devoted to change to play a role in our nature-based workshops, installations, events and forums. 

But it’s not just about art farm projects.
