permanent collection

Permanent outdoor installations comprise part of the evolving artistic landscape of the art farm - with a permanent collection of indoor work still to come.

The Wilderness Cube marks a clear distinction between cultivated landscape and the wilderness within.  The cube was made using wire framing folded and tied together. It surrounds a large rock remaining from original site clearing. All nature around the cube is clipped and maintained. Anything within is left to nature's devices.

The Bamboo Transect, located in the fir and cedar forest at the back of the art farm, is based on a biological observation model: drawing a line in living space to observe changes and development along side.  In this case, the line is drawn by twelve foot tall bamboo poles, clipped, sanded and painted to resemble tall thin flames amongst the living trees; an echo from the charred remains of old growth surrounding.

The Uterus Mundi or Laurel Spiral is a live work of art, with laurel trees growing into a ten foot tall spiral forest leading audiences into a clearing and bonfire pit in the middle.  Apart from opening to the stars above, the Uterus Mundi is designed around the fall and spring equinoxes, providing anyone who can read it with an exact indication of where they are in relation to the rest of the cosmos.
